Anyone have experience of fitting these ? I'm a total novice - comments on the elkparts website extol its virtues and emphasise how easy it is to fit.

    I've got a 1998 2.3 9-5.

Any help & advice much appreciated - cheers.

It really is very easy. Pull the vacuum line off the end, release the two clips holding the current one in place, then remove it. Refitting is the reverse of removal. It's easy to get access at the front of the engine bay.

Cheers for that - does sound simple.

Only remaining question is - is it worth doing ?

It's more of a cosmetic than performance mod to be honest. You'll generally really only notice a difference if your old one is worn/faulty.

That's interesting because the feedback on elkparts is full of comments about better acceleration, better mpg etc.

I reckon my car to be in good nick considering the age - dealer/specialist serviced, fully synth oil changes etc.

I have one and performance is improved for two reasons, I am running stage 3 Maptun and the old plastic Bosch unit was not holding boost properly and I had to fit the green spring I think from memory to the Forge unit. My Bosch unit was 6 years old. If your car is standard and the Bosch unit is fine don't expect an increase in performance.

At that age your Bosch DV had probably deteriorated and needed replacing.

I am currently running a stage three Maptun on a 9-3 with a brand new Bosch DV and performance is just as good as the Forge DV which I have just removed.

The difference is that the Bosch is a diapraghm and the Forge is a twin-piston. The Forge is user-serviceable whereas the Bosch is not.

What would be the tell-tale signs that my original unit is not fully functioning and that it therefore would be worthwhile fitting the Forge unit ?

No such sound at the moment - guess I'll stick with the standard unit for now. Thanks for your advice chaps.
