Replacing SAAB badge on hatch
Hi all,
The SAAB badge on the hatch of my Aero has fallen victim to a car wash. Now, I've changed the bonnet one a couple of times on my previous 9000, but never the hatch one. Is the replacement badge and procedure the same? Have had a search here but all threads seem to relate to the front badge.
Thanks very much as always!

I think it is just stuck on with trim tape.
Best plan is, that as you obviously need a new one, buy that first and see how it is affixed.
If it is just trim tape (back double-sided rubber tape) it should just pry off. Make sure the badge is warm (and the old tape too) before you start.

I presume you mean the word badge not the disc. In that case it is just stuck on.

I think he means the Griffin emblem, I suspect the "SAAB" wordy thing is either there or it isn't (unless a bit of it has gone AWOL) the usual thing for the emblem is for the lacquer to fall off the badge.
As an aside, the badge of my old 1990 9000i is now on it's third bonnet - clearly they don't make them like they used to!

Maybe they don't make the bonnets like they used to! Three - what have you been doing with them?

Bonnet #1 (original on 9ki) had a ding on it when I bought the car. Acquired a CDE as a parts car as it had full leather and wood. Bonnet, as luck would have it was the right colour and perfect but had an iffy badge. Did the necessary swapping.
Had to scrap 9ki so swapped badge onto the new CSE that replaced it but also had an iffy badge.
Bonnet #2 is still perfect (although probably going to get crushed soon) Bonnet #1 is probably a 'fridge in Taiwan by now.

Re: Replacing SAAB badge on hatch
Sorry for not being clear, yes I do mean the round Saab emblem, NOT the other badges. I'll speak to Elkparts and see if it's the same part, if it is, the procedure must also be the same.
Thanks very much!

Re: Replacing SAAB badge on hatch
Assuming yours is a CS shape, then it would appear to be the same type as the bonnet.
However, as it goes into plastic, only consider doing this in the warmth, plastic will crack if pushed too hard in low temperatures. You don't want to have to buy a new decor panel too.
