Re: Interesting 9000CS Carlsson on eBay
Welcome to Saabscene scminks!
Yes, an upgraded recirculating or atmospheric dump valve probably is a waste of money if you fit it to a standard car that the present valve isn't faulty on.
However on higher performance models they are of benefit as they work better under higher boost pressure, operate quicker and are more robust.
As for whether you want to pay for the noise of an atmos valve, I suppose that's purely a personal matter which only the individual purchaser can put a value on- a bit like changing repeaters for smoked ones etc
[edit] the reason it's made that car slower is it has an Air Mass Meter, which don't like atmos dump valves. A performance recirc one probably would be of benefit though

Were all CS Carlsson's sprung that high? Doesn't look right to me, in fact it looks like a nail.
Steer clear.

Re: Interesting 9000CS Carlsson on eBay
my cs carly isnt as high as this one,but not as low as an aero.i think he,s cocked the tyre proflie on his new 17"ers.are 16" as standard.

Re: Interesting 9000CS Carlsson on eBay
Must admit the 17's put me off - prefer the Carlsson on it's original 16 inch alloys.
Here's my old 2.3 Carlsson - now why would you want to spoil the look with some garish 17 inchers?
Part of the attraction of the CS Carlsson (for me) is that they are understated - they do not look as fast as they are.

Re: Interesting 9000CS Carlsson on eBay
kev, on your carlsson it has got white wing mirrors are these original as mine came with black, if yours are correct them mine have obviously been damaged in the past!!.
Also you have a very large black stripe round the bumpers on mine the stripe is about a fifth of the size of yours??? also that carlsson on ebay, something really doesn't add up as it hasn't got the full bumpers and it just doesn't look right. I may be wrong but i would steer well clear of it

Re: Interesting 9000CS Carlsson on eBay
wouldnt it be boring if we all agreed with each other!.i think the carly looks clean(not the wheels).to me everything seems to add up on it ok,except for the lack of colour coded mirrors(could be replacements).even got the carly steering wheel.as i understand it,a genuine carly has plain door handles with NO chrome strip and SMOOTH colour coded mirrors, not the textured ones painted!!.these are the two easy ones to look out for on a real carly.what you all say?

Re: Interesting 9000CS Carlsson on eBay
I just e-mailed the owner, he said it does not have a saab history, the previous owner was an RAF sergeant who had it serviced by the aircraft engineers and that the current owner has done all the last servicing himself.
Just needs a set of lowering springs to stop it looking like a 4 x 4
He says the reserve is at £1950 which seems a tad high considering you can find early aero's for £2000 now with that sort of mileage.
One quick question, I was looking through a few old Autocar magazines, and the 2.3 CSE FPT in manual has better 0-60 30-50 2/3 gears and 50-70 3/4/5 gears time then the 2.3 carlsson. How is this ? when i thought the carlsson had 220 bhp ? is it to do with gear ratios ?
