I need to replace the reverse light switch on my 2000 Saab 9-5 estate 2.0t SE AUTO.

Would GM Part No. 90482454 fit ?

if not doe's anyone know the correct part number for the switch ?

Thanks

The part number you quote is shown on the parts catalogue as the one for the manual gearbox. It is the current part and also the replacement for all the previous switches.

The reverse light switch on automatic cars is incorporated into the selector lever position sensor.

What are the symptoms that lead you to think the switch has failed?

From what I can see, the reversing lights on the auto are illuminated via a relay rather than DICE as is the case for manual models. As a result there's no monitoring of the circuit.

I presume you've checked the fuse? #2 in the passenger compartment fuse board. The relay is in the main dash relay box. To check if the switch is faulty, unplug the transmission range switch connector and apply 12V to pin 7 of the free connector with the ignition on.
