The Saab 9-2 is planned for its introduction this summer. It's made in Japan by Subaru. It will no doubt be fitted with Subaru gear with only the nosepiece and the badge differentiating it from an Impreza or, in the case of the 9-2 Aero, the WRX.
I noticed the beginnings of a discussion in another thread about this car, that was locked since it became a critique of this new model. Personally, I think it's going to be interesting to see how a dealer like the Middletown, New York dealer, which handles both Saabs and Subarus, is going to handle this puzzling scenario.
I understand that the 9-2 is NOT going to be offered in Europe- a shame in a sense. Is it that Subaru is well-entrenched in England?
The other new model GM wants to foist upon us Saab addicts is the Saab 9-7 SUV. This is built on the GM platform that has the full-size TrailBalzer and GMC Envoy, as well as the new Buick Rainier SUV. That vehicle is going to be built here in America.
It seemed that, during my last visit to Europe in 2001, that SUV's were not all that popular there. I can't see the 9-7x being a hit in either England or Continental Europe. I thought I read that it probably won't be offered there.
