My 93se has intermittent problem where speedo suddenly drops to zero and stops working. At the same time, ABS warninv lights come on. Everything then returns to normal just as mysteriously. A diagnostics check at MOT showed "no fault".
I understand from some serious "surfing" that this could be ABS sensor or ABS module. The sensor on the rear nearside wheel also controls speedo. This could just need a clean or replacing if that doesn't cure the problem.
Worst case scenario is a new ABS module, which could be £1000+ from dealer but I am led to believe originals can be fixed for cheaper. I've not found out where yet (so if anyone knows...) but this would obviously be a great saving.
Hope this info proves useful to someone...I just need to get mine fixed now! smile.gif

this might just be me but it sounds more like a speed sensor fault on the gearbox.

if the car is not getting a good signal on its current speed, i'm not suprised the ABS would throw a wobbly as acording to the engine the car aint moving but according to the wheels it is.

when you said there was "no fault" on the diagnostics, was it checked by someone with a Tech2 diagnostic? most garages have the ability to check the EOBD codes but saab (and vauxhall now) have an extra layer of brain which requires Tech2 equipment to diagnose most faults.

best idea is to go to your local Saab indie or dealer and just get them to plug it in and check for historical fault codes
