Hi, I have read the numerous posts on here about suspension problems and it has got me slightly worried, I have had a clunking noise but I was told a couple of weeks ago by a main dealer that 1 of the exhaust mountings had been bodged up slightly, they did have a look at the suspension as they thought it may be 1 of the bushes so I am guessing they checked the springs. It's going back in this week to have a twin exhaust fitted and yesterday they rang to give me an update on parts etc and I mentioned the noise again and you could hear worry in his voice and he admitted that there had been a few broken spring problems recently but that Saab were doing nothing about it. In all fairness to him he did say that if I took it over that day they would check it out but work stops me from doing that as they aren't that local to me but I will get it checked this week.
The main point of this is to ask advice on the Hirsch springs vs the Eibach springs-as they are half the price, are they as good? Will my car become too low? It's a Vector Sport, 2003.

Any help/advice appreciated!

Our car is a 2003 model Vector with the sport suspension. We got the Hirsch springs a fews years ago. Should have done it earlier!! smile.gif

There are posts about from a couple of people who have bought the Eibcah Pro spings saying that they come with Eibach and Hirsch labels. So they could well be the same. Eibach make the springs for Hirsch. Difference in price could be the mark-up as they pass from Eibach, to Hirsch, to Saab, to your Saab dealer, to you.

The dealership has told me how good they are, my only concern is that Eibach say it can lower the car by up to 40mm which would be too much I think considering the speed humps here. I may try contacting eibach themselves.

The 30mm/40mm is on a standard car. If you already have sport suspension, the lowering will only be around 10mm. I drive the car around London and the M25. No problem with speed bumps, speed cushions or speed tables!! smile.gif

Here's what ours looks like with the Hirsch springs. I can get two fingers between the top of the tyre and the underside of the wheel arch. Sport suspension is about three finger and standard suspension is 4 or more fingers.

Hi, thanks for that, i think you have just sold me on the idea of getting them done, mine is a Vector Sports so it already has the sports suspension.
Many thanks.

Do the finger test!! The Vector Sport did not have sport suspension as standard! The Vector Sport had the ES2 radio, parking sensors and some other bits as standard, but not the springs and shocks.

Although I always thought our car was a Vector Sport , but it only says Vector on the door trims and in the V5 document.

The factory fit suspension can be worked out from the VIN plate in the door shut above the sill. The row of letters and numbers along the bottom give the spec of the suspension.

Hi sgould, It looks like mine doesn't have the sport suspension as 3 fingers fit, did you manage to get the Hirsch springs fitted ok? Looking at the info on them it says can only be fitted to models with sports suspension!
