Found this link, interesting that for once my car tax is going down !! Only £10 a year less but still I was paying more on my last 3 cars than the saab ttid for far less power. My dads got a little nissan pixo 1.0 thing, tax is £35 now - drops to £20 next year.

Anyone got a classic that is tax exempt ?

I don't get it, i just paid £100+ for 6 months (2001 2.2 TiD) and it states it should've been less?

It is always worth renewing for a whole year, even if you need to "borrow" the money. You pay an £12 or so for doing it every six months, but if you ask for a refund, you only get refunded on the 12 month rate and not on the higher rate which you pay for 6 months. By doing it for 12 months, you also have the option of asking for a refund just before the new rate comes in (as long as you are able to park the vehicle off road for a couple of days) and then renewing for a whole year at the old rate.

i always get a years worth, and its always 6 months after the MOT, that way if you do have major MOT expenses you dont have to find the repair bill PLUS the tax in the same month.

and why is it in this age of direct debits and computerised DVLA systems can we not spread it over the entire year??? i think its worth a suggestion to the DVLA, if i start a petition, will anyone sign up to it?
