Hi all,
I've a question that'll probably raise the odd smirk, but I've been googling left, right and centre and can't find a satisfactory answer.
My question is this - if I increase the power and torque, by say 25%, will my high speed cruising be any quieter and more relaxed?
I've an LPT 900 'classic'with a 3 speed auto and it needs 3000rpm to sustain 63mph and this makes motorways a bit of a pain. I understand how gears work and my initial thought is that it will make no differences as the gear box will need to spin at the same speed (at lease if a manual), but is it different with an auto with a torque converter?
If the fact that it's an auto doesnt make a difference - would the boost from say 145bhp to 185bhp that I intend just mean I get to my uncomfortably frenetic cruising speed quicker, or will the increased bhp and torque lead to an ngine that's trying less hard and so be quieter at higher speed even though sundry gearboxy bits are still spinning like a turbine?
Thank you for your consideration!
