I just tightened up the pinch bolt to the telescopic column clamp as the s/wheel could be moved up and down even with column fully clamped.

Whilst doing this I noticed a creak from near the top of the column. This seems to come from a very narrow area between the top of the column and the underside of dash/instrument cluster.

There appears to a block here-perhaps a rubber/plastic spacer or insulator-which I suspect has broken.

The Haynes manual has an indistinct picture. Could anyone give me a clue here please ?
