Welcome to the board Loulibelle

Which engine / spec did you go for? How long 'til you get it?

They do look gorgeous

Just seen one this afternoon at the end of my road. Yellow metallic, but with a Swedish registration. Looked nice in the short time it was on view, but if I was in the market I'd choose a different colour.

My wife has been on my case for a convertible. And she has fallen in love with what I call the "green banana" look. Luckily it's past her birthday and Christmas is still months away http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif .

Hi Guys!

Well it's a bit of a long story about the car I've ordered!!

Yesterday I ordered:

1.8t Vector, Black (non metallic), grey interior ES1, single CD changer

Got home and rang dealer and changed to:

1.8t, Nocturne Blue Metallic, beige interior, ES1 6 CD changer.

This morning rang dealer and changed to:

2.0t, Glacier Blue Metallic, beige interior ES2, single CD changer!

It's not been easy deciding!!

Fortunately my dealer is a very very patient man but I think my family lost it with me this morning because I wasn't sure I've made the right choice about the colour!!

I really like black, but I know from experience that black cars look filthy the day after they've been out of the car wash.......and since my new Saab can't go in a car wash, and I'm not going to be washing it (I'll chat hubby up!) I don't think black would be a good choice.....what do you think??

I think that you should do a bit of research on the audio system Loulibelle. There have been various comments on a number of SAAB boards that some of the lower ES packages are more punishment than pleasure http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif .

Hi Stanley

I've listened to the ES2 in the demo and it sounded fine to me!

I think it's the ES1 that's a bit dodgy...correct me if I'm wrong!

ES2-7 is OK but i would have the 6 CD changer, saves changing discs or carrying cases. ES2-13 is alot better, avoid ES1-4 like the plauge.
There was a nice convertable at the SOC national yesterday (and today i guess).
All i can say is http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/fawlty.gif http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/fawlty.gif http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/fawlty.gif

Don't get black....you're right about the 'looks filthy within a day of washing'.
Can't comment on either Nocturne or Glacier blue as I haven't seen what either of these look like yet.....
Sand interior.....heavy grain on the leather Saab now use (read cheaper.. )will start to look grubby within 2 years....OK if you intend to change cars every 3 years or so, but not so good if you intend to keep longer. One of my old bosses had a MY02 9-5 Aero with the Sand interior and the drivers seat looked horrible after 12-18 months.... http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

I loved those wheels, tried hard to talk Gary from Saab GB into finding some for me, even offered him the £25 and one thousand moths I had in my wallet but he wouldn't have it

Loulibelle - Glacier = gorgeous & I'm a big fan of Sand leather, beige is so much more interesting than dark grey... Good choice, how long before it arrives?

Hi Fliptop!

I should get the car in September....but I want it now!!

Am still wondering if I've made the right choice re the colour, but it's done now!!

imho you have made the right choice
a convertible needs to have some colour about it and black cars are sooooo hard to keep clean
and the es2-7 sounds pretty good to me (the es1 is really pants !!)

good luck

Whatho Loulibelle et al:

Anyone got any idea where we can see these famed new colours? Not on Sab's official websites, that's for sure. Nor at Chester or Shrewsbury Saab. I understand Nocturne is the replacement for Midnight - correct, Lou? So what is Glacier - a pale blue presumably?

We are looking to change my wife's midnight blue convertible for a new one but Saab aren't exactly falling over themselves to sell us the new car...

And are you saying that you've dropped the Vector spec? Is that wise? - seems to me you get around £3000 more than the basic for the extra £2000.

I'm sorry but the car in Leon's pictures is a TRULY DISGUSTIBLE colour !!!
Its got that lovely gearbox though - anyone know if it would retrofit into a 9000 ?

Apologies for the poor quality, but I think it is one of the few pics available at the moment of Glacier Blue.

Regards the Lime Yellow colour, you really should see it in the flesh, as it were, before making a judgement on it. Most people's reactions when the colour was first seen in brochures was 'Oh, no', but having seen the colour on a few cars now, and in the sunshine, it is a real favourite.

[/b]Saab A/S is spot on with this. This car looks fantastic in real life. I have seen it in Sweden, at a motorshow on the south coast and in nottinghamshire the other week - a great colour for a great looking car. Bit more interesting than the now ubiquitous silver

must admit I didn't think much of the 'yellow' in piccies..
But in the metal its far easier on the eye... would I buy a car that colour? I wouldn't run away screaming...

And less of the silver bashing /john...

Glacier blue looks green to me?
