Hi Folks,

Thought I'd share my trials and tribulations of this week!

I managed to park my car outside my garage this week whilst closing the door, and when I returned to it I found to my dismay that I could not release the handbrake. I called Saab Assistance (AA!) and 35 mins later, the AA guy also wrestled with the thing. Worst of all the rear wheels were completely locked, so we couldn't move it an inch!

15 mins later AA man #2 arrives with special low loader truck, and my prized 93ss was dragged on to it using special skid plates to protect the Pirellis...

Eventually arranged a hire car via my local dealer (thank you to Saab Customer Relations who oiled the wheels when things got stuck...)

This happened Tuesday, and with a bit of luck I'll get it back Monday or Tuesday next week. It looks like a new handbrake system is being fitted!

The good news is that along with the repair I'm finally getting the parts agreed with Saab - from the Saab Con Post, plus a few extras to keep me happy! Hopefully next week I can let you know what the ES/2 13 sounds like compared to my former ES/2 7!

Anyone else had this problem?

Just had my Wife on the phone a little upset that the handbrake is jammed on . It did happen to me a couple of weeks ago, however I managed to release it.

Does anyone know if there is a modification out there to make the handbrake easier to use? - the small button just doesn't travel enough to release the brake.

I too had problems releasing the hand brake when i first got the car, finding it easier to use now, i think its a combination of lifting up and the button on the bottom of the brake that is taking time ajusting to.

I cant comment on the 7 speakers but the 13 speaker option is nice, although CD sounds so much better than radio, seems to be a real lack of bass with the radio, but as soon as a cd is played you can hear the bass much better. Will be putting my Sub back in soon. Could be that my last car was tuned to perfection and im missing my DSP

Keep the P/Brakes serviced. addjust the shoes and cables, lube the P/brake mech. under center console. some times the handle cover works its way off not allowing full disingagement when pressing the release button. Make sure the cover is pressed down then retry to release.

Hi Guys,

I've not been on the BBS for a while as I choked over even saying the word 93ss!

See my recent post on the question of which music to find out how my ES/13 upgrade went. Mike J I hope you have better luck than me.

As for now, well I'm ever so happy to be back in a 95 2.3t Vector (and I'm not joking!).

My dealer did (eventually) fix the hand brake, but it took a week. I had no troubles with the new one, but I reckon its a time bomb. If they really lock, they don't unlock!

Mike [/b]Have to say I am not at all tempted by 9-3ss. Plan to stick with my 9-5 Aero http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/fawlty.gif

Hi Rob,

I think the later shipments of 93ss look better built, mine was the first production batch.

When choosing any car, I'd suggest a decent test drive first, not a 20 min affair (I didn't do this on my 93ss...).

Finally its always horses for courses. I prefer the 95 overall, but not all drivers will.

Take care!
