I read with some shock that the 9-3SS engine can be made to produce 1000BHP http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif !
The information is detailed in a book with SAAB part number 88958646. This book contains details of all the parts needed, including part numbers.

Has anyone heard about this, and are any 9-3SS drivers secretly busy saving up for this POWER Monster?
Could not help feeling that http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/fawlty.gif could mean: hang on to the steering of your mobile toilet .

SAAB part number 88958646[/b]That doesn't look like a Saab part number to me.

The handbook is listed at:
https://www.spoperformanceparts.com/store/c...html?CATID=3005 (https://www.spoperformanceparts.com/store/catalog/Category.jhtml?CATID=3005)

Look for the part number I provided by scrolling to the bottom of the page.

Not so sure this would apply to the 9-3ss...
The engine is a lotus designed unit, 'basic' block can be found in Vectra 2.2, its been downsized for use in the 9-3, and the ecotec name has been around for years, the 2.2 is a pretty new engine...

And anyway look at the cover of that handbook... it's got a dizzy... aint seen one of those in years! http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

What's a dizzy?

I think my 'old' 9-3 engine is described as ecotec too.

Dizzy - ignition distributor, made redundant by Saab with the introduction of the DI (Direct Ignition) system.

Ecotec = Opel
Eco power = Saab

Any more questions?
