: Ham radio
MikeH 05-19-2002, 03:23 AM Early next month,I have to make a couple of journeys to the west country, and as my car is suffering breathing problems,ie:the turbo is tatered,it looks as if I shall have to use the 9000S.So I wondered,if I stick the 2meter in the car, would there be any other hams with a Saab leaning likely to be on the air,or am I the sadest of all??
StanleyB 05-20-2002, 03:03 PM That's a big ten-four old buddy.
What's your handle?
gassy 05-21-2002, 03:01 AM Good gods! A two metre ham! What size of a pig did that come off ?
Is everyone invited to this barbeque then, Mike ?
PS On the basis that groups of blokes (even females can be considered blokes for this argument) with a shared enthusiasm verging on the obsessive, can be considered "sad", then a subset of those blokes with a second shared obses .., er enthusiasm, have got to be considered doubly sad. Stands to reason.
You don't mind if the rest of us just stand here and watch for a bit, do you ? We might giggle and point as well, but just ignore us.
Anyway, I'm off to stuff some ferrets down me trousers. Anyone else up for a bit of ferreting around?
MikeH 05-21-2002, 05:04 AM Gassy
we get bigger than that,up 160 meters, and yes ferret to your hearts content,in reply to StanleyB,CB is to ham radio,as Lada is to Saab.so whatever or whoever I find to talk to on the way back from Lynmouth,I doubt I shall be talking Saab
Mike
gassy 05-21-2002, 11:54 AM Actually, my brother is a ham (hammist?, hammisti?) and his friend, called CQ for some strange reason, sends him postcards from around the world.
I think his furthest contact, from Scotland, has been the British Antartic Survey, bouncing signals of some Ionic Sphere, apparently.
MikeH 05-21-2002, 12:25 PM Gassy.regards to your brother,I too call CQ but he rarely answers,my brother converted me to amateur radio , but I have spoken to him only once via the air waves, mind he does live in New Zealand.i have spoken to a saab enthusiast in Los Angeles whilst he was on the Santa Monica Freeway on his way to work.
