Hi from downunder (Australia).
I'm thinking about buying a '00 or '01 Viggen
3dr or 5dr all with low milage, but wanted to know if there were any issues that were well known about these cars? Also heard the chasis wasn't good enough to handle the car well or is this on other 9-3 models?

In short I love the look (in and out) of the car but want to know if any one has 1st hand experience of living with it.

I don't really want to go for a BMW - there are too bloody many of them!

All views much appreciated - Thks.
Mark.

My uncle has a Viggen! fine car but his has the saab uprated suspention. Although I personally havenot driven it (he Doesn't trust me) he says don't have one without sports suspention or you'llspend most of your time in tne rough stuff. the standard suspention is quite soft. also make sure the timing belt is changed at 60,000 miles.

PS ive just purchased my first 95 only a 2.0 but it could still lead to divorce!!!

also watch for the displays on the SID and ACC. My ACC cost me £300 just for the display!!! but that was before I found this site!!!

Best of luck though as Saab cars are the best!!!

The 9-3's suspension is a whole lot better than the NG900 that it's derived from, but I think it's fair to say that Saab and TWR could have done a better job on the Viggen.

Take a look at www.abbotracing.com (http://www.abbotracing.com) for their 'Viggen rescue pack'.

Cheers

I have driven the Viggen - but it had a Hirsch suspension pack installed - so I don't know how bad the original is.

That's a fast car!
