I had a slight problem in central london today, my gearbox froze solid in neutral at a set of lights. It refused to shift until i turned the engine off then you could select all gears, problem was when you started the car and it refused again!
Has anyone had a simular experance? If so what was the problem?

NS I've got a MY 97 900 Sensonic and a similar thing happened to me on the M27earlier this year, it turned out to that the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder had failed. This had damaged the clutch plate during a snatch engagement and produced the symptoms that you described.

Geoff was it just the hose or did you have to change the clutch plate?

The clutch plate was damaged by the snatch engagement (the flanges holding the springs in place had snapped off)and was replaced along with the slave cylinder, fortunatly the flywheel was not damaged.

Well i've got mine back but now but i can feel the cogs as you change up from second to third. Sutton Park Saab said there is nothing wrong even as i sat with them during a test drive!!However they have seen the light and are having it back again.
