I have bought 6 SAABs through IDS: 3 X 900's, 2 X 9000's and my present car a 95SE. All IDS cars are full UK spec and come with a Certificate of Conformity. On return to UK my 95 was automatically registered onto the SAAB UK computor and 3 year warranty was confirmed. My car had it's 27000 miles service last month at a cost of £197.
Hope this helps.

thanks steve (a big help) are the trade in values of an ids car lower than that of a standard one

They should not be any lower. My next door niehbour also brought back an IDS 95SE and recently traded it in for a 95 estate. I don't think the trace in was any less because he bought it tax free in Germany. If unsure I suggest you ask a SAAB dealer!

If the car is full UK spec and RHD, there is nothing on the V5, AFAIK, that indicates that the vehicle is an IDS or personal import, therefore dealer will not necessarily know.

It shouldn't affect trade in price. It might affect sale price if a prospective purchaser knows you paid less than normal for it.
