A couple of weeks ago, my 1995 Turbo started stuttering intermittently. I am no mechanic, but it felt like one (or all) of: a fuel system / turbo / timing problem.
The local Saab garage had a look at these areas but concluded that the spark plugs were "breaking down under load" and so replaced them.
Unfortunately, the stuttering has returned. I have now determined the following:
1. The engine seems to stutter when the turbo pressure gauge needle gets to halfway through the orange section. This is the only car-related constant that I have identified.
2. It was damp weather each time (the other constant!!)
3. It occurs in 5th / 4th gear (haven't tried all the others)
4. It doesn't appear to be dependent on revs
5. It doesn't seem to be speed-related
Has anyone else encountered this - if so, can you please e-mail me with an explanation (or, if its not too much trouble, e-mail me to let me know that you've posted a reply to this bulletin board). My address is tsp@neilboyd.com<br />
Thank you
