Obviously 125 and 115 bhp Tids now in saab showrooms. How do we know the difference? Has anyone tried one?

Just collected my new 125 93 Tid SE. Brilliant car and excellent torque.

Still got 6 weeks to wait until mine arrives. :-(

As far as telling the difference from a 115bhp: probably with difficulty! The only way you can (visually) tell between a petrol and diesel 9-3 is I believe the slighty bigger exhaust pipe.

Well my 9-3SE TiD arrived Tuesday - a few weeks before I expected it. I've looked all over the car and externally there is nowhere that it's visibly a diesel.
Easy to tell though when you look at the instrument panel (rev counter has red line at about 4500rpm!) and very obvious when you raise the bonnet.
I've not found anything on the car to tell if it's 115 or 125bhp (not having an earlier TiD to compare with), but I have found on the certificate of conformity the power rating: 125bhp

robw, congratulations on your new acquisition. Did I tell you that Hirsch Performance do some upgrades for the diesel? Makes it fly, apparently. ;-)

I have already communicated with Hirsch. Old 115 TiD had separate electronic module and pump allowing tuning to take place. 125 TiD is all one unit and Hirsch say they cannot operate (not cost effective). I am waitng for Abbot to get back to me. Will let you know their response. 125 Tid improving all the time -now 1500 miles.

Im looking to buy a new 5 door 93 diesel, but getting conflicting info on the having a cd player installed, dealer & what car quote £550.00 option whilst web site quotes £80.00 , can anyone clarify.

Complicated issue. Seems you need to use a Saab dealer to match the cd changer with the the head unit. Price of said cd changer varies I have been quoted between £350 and £500 depending on the dealer. I'll wait and see but your new car will be pre wired and I have seen 6 disc units suitable for Saab as low as £150. Let the BB Board know what you decide.

thanks for quick reply, however the car will be a company purchase, therfore any extras will need to be dealer fitted.I have £17250.00 to spend, so with air con added i would have to settle for the standard cassette player. Would the £80.00 be an upgrade charge from a cassette to a single slot cd player?

Ah...mine is an SE with climate control and single slot cd. Yes, £80 is right for the upgrade though I thought all 2001 models got a cd as standard.Check Saab.co.uk website - secifications?
