Eric Geers New Executive Director Communications at Saab Automobile AB
Effective January 15, Eric C. Geers (41), is appointed Executive Director Communications at Saab Automobile AB. Geers will have responsibilities for Corporate and Product PR, Internal Communications as well as Public Affairs and will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Augustsson. He will succeed Niklas L. Andersson, who is taking on a new assignment in the Sales/Marketing and Aftersales area at Saab.
Eric Geers will rejoin Saab Automobile from GM Europe in Zurich, Switzerland, where he has been acting as the primary contact and resource for the local Saab communications organizations, while also being operationally involved in the GM Europe Product Communications area. It is planned that Geers, in the transition phase, will retain some of these GM Europe responsibilities while moving into his new position.
His experience with Saab goes back to 1986 when he joined the Saab distribution organisation in the Netherlands as Manager PR. In 1996 he moved to Sweden to join Saab Automobile and subsequently held positions in the communications organisation as Manager PR for Saab in Europe and later for Global Product Communications. Between 2000 and 2002 he directed the communications activities at Saab’s regional office in Atlanta, USA.
”Eric’s background and international experience will allow our company to establish a solid global communications platform that can deal with the challenges that come along with Saab’s efficiency program and with our biggest product offensive ever,” said Peter Augustsson.
Eric Geers was born in Zeist, the Netherlands and studied at the International Automotive Business School, IVA in the Netherlands.
