Saab publicity says that the delightful new 9-3 Sports Sedan/Saloon is their first ever sports saloon.

No it isn't

Shouldn't that distinction go to the 99 EMS (or perhaps the GT750/850 or MonteCarlo 96s)

Did the same when they introduced the 900 2.5 V6?, and there lurks in trollhattan, the Monster - a 6 cylinder, 2-stroke 93.

That has nagged at me all day long!

Not to mention the 99 turbo(t) and C900 turbo - both of those came with a boot, which says 'sports saloon' to me.

What about the 9000 CD 2.3 Carlsson?

Suppose the point is that they will get away with this, as the majority of people won't know any better

One thing we must never forget - Marketing bods invariably haven't got a sodding clue what they're talking about - their proviso is to produce some thing to <ahem> market the product...

Doesn't matter if they lie....

Remember that one about "Windows 98 - our most stable operating system"? Well it was, compared to the previous incarnations....

Windows 98 - our most stable operating system"? *[/b]It was compared to 95.. I believe the official quote was - 18 times more stable...

Then, when 2000 Professional was rolled out.. they again said.. this is more than 50 times more stable than 95...

This line of reasoning in marketing is all pervasive.

Remember the tag line from Porsche that's been so over-used in every new model launch since nineteen-canteen..

Everything we know about building a sportscar, embodied in this, the latest hugemaflip...

And then next model launch.. yeah the old one was [expletive deleted] - BUT this one !... this is the real deal.

Marketing.. who needs them.. just build a damn good product and stand by it for once!
