Okay, most of us drive Saabs because we like the styling, performance, comfort and practicality...
To highlight Saab's error of it's ways (dropping a hatchback).. (okay there will be a 'lifestyle estate.. but..).. on the IKEA run (or whatever) what's the bulkiest/ biggest/strangest/ etc.. load you've ever carried in the back of your Saab?

.. for me it was the following in one IKEA trip (with the seats folded down..) 1 double bed, 2 matresses, 1 rug, 1 cabinet and 2 pictures.

How about you ?

All the mechanical bits of a MK2 Ford Escort were quite a squeeze (and a little worrying going round corners/braking.....)

Prior to selling it last month, the CD Carlsson had done us proud getting a 3 metre length of soil pipe home and previously enough timber to make up a 9 foot bay of feather edged fencing, that's posts and arris rails as well...all within the body, with boot shut.

4 berth frame tent, camping table, chairs, bedding, gas+stove, cool box, groundsheet, two labradors, one child, two adults, with aid of a very large Thule roof box. Rear mudflaps dragged a lot! http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

Endless trips to the dump whilst gutting our last house in Wimbledon ... pretty hard wearing, those 9000 interiors!

Dropping the hatch really was a shame - how can you be individual when you're following the three-box crowd?

2000 Aero Wagon, but I miss my 9000! http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

1. 6 ft sofabed and other bits and pieces (900 tbo - had to remove the rear speakers)
2. 27 cases of wine (900 tbo)
3. 7 full black dustbins in a 9000CSE - hatch closed, clothespeg on my nose.

No hatch - no Saab. Sorry, SAAB, I mean it.

Must admit I had to push the 9000 Carlsson into service for a trip to the dump, as the boot on the VW Passat is pathetically inadequate!

so you stuck the passat in the boot of the 9000 to take it away to dump it?

Carried an antique chest of drawers in my 9-3 last Friday (although the tailgate did not close). Also long lengths of timber when I was doing my extension.

But the real test is enough space for gear for a family holiday. When three families joined together for a holiday last year my bro'-in-law had to donate some gear to father-in-law's Merc estate 'cos his BM 3er's boot is pathetic. Thankfully he now has a 9-5!

4 large rucksacks and 2 mountain bikes (partially disassembled) in the boot of my old 9000S. Even got the parcel shelf down without any real protest.

Took me and my mates about 15 minutes to find the right permutation so that it all fitted

The Passat is a good car, though the 9000 is my mistress! (I do need to get out more, don't I?)

With the rear seats down, the available space is more than satisfactory for extra marrital affairs.....

Various loads in my 9-5 saloons. I have a thing about roof racks, and do my utmost to keep everything *inside* the car :-)

Antique Bureau. (Had to remove back seat bases and put them in the boot).

On Camping trips, with 2 adults and 2 kids (to S of F):
5 Berth Frame tent, Gas Cooker, Gas Bottle, Cool Box, Medium Suitcase, 2 large duffel bags, 2 rucksacks, Food, Cutlery/plates/cups etc, beach toys, Inflatable Dinghy, Footpump, 2 double Airbeds, duvets/sleeping bags, coats, waterbottles and anything else that can be fitted into the car :-) (And I didn't need a roofrack!)

Skiing trips - much of the above deleting the tent etc, + two pairs of skis, two ski boot bags, ski clothing etc. Again, all inside the car. It is amazing what can be fitted into the saloon. I've owned a Peugot Estate in the past that wouldn't hold anywhere near as much.
