If you want a fast SAAB, look no further than a T16 or T16s. On your budget you could get a mint condition car and have change to get the engine tuned up for maximum performance.
These cars are indeed fast but i'd get the brakes upgraded first!

HHmmm. What about a 900aero HOT if your lucky enough to get a good one for that money.
I've got a t16s and its ok but could do with a bit more pep. If you're gonna get a classic 900 go for a Carllson with leather. It's the top dog of the oldies. Don't touch a sensonic gearbox as they are a gimmic and not a performance tool. Remeber though that if you do get a t16s you can spend the rest of the money on upgrades at people like TrentSaab who do a £1275 (approx) upgrade that gives you 146 top end and a sub 7 seconds 0-60.

I'd agree with that guy, the brakes are terrible! Oh yeah and the sensonic box is on the newer shape 900! (Forgot to mention that)
Remember aswell that the newer shape 900's are based on the cavalier chassis, not the classic 900 handling me thinks!

Maybe I shouldn't say this but for the sort of money you're looking to spend you could import a mint REV3 MR2 Turbo. What's all this above about 146 top end? This car is SERIOUSLY fast! With 245Bhp And a top end of 155mph And 0-60 in under 6 seconds it will beat a lot of cars. Also because you're importing from Japan the car will not have been subjected to frost & salt so will have zero (And I mean ZERO) rust. Not very practical but then you've mentioned that "quickest" is what you're looking for. Buy an MR2 Turbo. Modifications for under £1000 on top of the car will take performance INTO Ferrari territory. DOn't beleve me? Check out http://www.imoc.org.uk<br />
Enjoy.

Mal,
at the risk of sounding condescending, I think the guy was considering a Saab as he's on this site.
Nothing against TOYota's but they hardly compare to a Saab for comfort and load carrying (I have driven both before you mention it).
Yours non-sarcastically - John.

For 7K your now in resonable 9000 Aero territory, but don't get an auto!!!! You could get a late (94-98 shape) 900 turbo coupe, but you'll need to spend more on top of that with Abbott Racing to make it go around corners, and performance wise it's someway short of a 9000 Aero.
Definately go for the 9000 Aero, or possibly a mint late 2.3 9000 Carlsson, if you can find one.

I've got a Blue 1996 900 SE Turbo that has got Abbott Racing upgrade (de-cat sports exhaust, Koni Springs/dampners all round, polymer suspension bushes, steering rack clamp) and black leather, with kenwood cd stacker. Also FSSH, 78k miles That you could have for £6500.
