I need at least the PCV fix, & a service - its been too long - money tight lately.

Who is a good choice in or near South Essex?

[ Or I'll have to get greasy and swear a lot ]

Kevin, I feel bad you've had no replies and I'm in West Essex. I have used Howe Engineering but they are in Herts, miles from you, sorry mate

The PCV and normal oil changes etc aren't too tricky though

I've been busy and paid people on other cars over the past - err - loads of years. So I'm a bit nervous about going under the car. And its now 40miles+ to a dealer for parts... Trouble is its harder to find someone you can trust with SAABs or so it seems.

Abbott Racing isn't too far away but I thought they might be a bit expensive for normal stuff.

I'd hoped to get some advice - thanks for your sympathy though.

Hi Kevin,

Don't know if you've booked your car in with anyone yet. But if not, give SAS cars a call in Rayleigh. They're an independant SAAB service centre who always do a good job and are pretty reasonable and fair with their prices.

Let me know if you need their number

I've also heard good things about SAS. Not tried them myself though. Another possible would be Brian Stabler in Chelmsford. He's been working on Saabs for years. Not sure if a 9-5 is too "modern" for him. I know he mostly seems to do c900's. His number is 01245 421686. I find hima little gruff, but I've never heard a bad word said about his work. I've only used him as a source of parts so far though

Thanks for the help Guys.
I've used SAS for simple stuff but they tend to refer hard stuff on a 9-5 on to the Dealers. Last time it was Continental/Stansted who did a clean throttle body + drill nipple + mend pipes for £50 when SAS were worried it was the T7 and refered me on to Stansted. I'd have expected it to be the other way around.
I didn't want to use a Dealer this time since if it does turn out to be the turbo as they appear to overcharge a lot for that.
I've put the car into Abbott today - I had to want 6 days for a slot. I'll post how it goes.
