I just had my saab serviced by Ray at Bagnall SAAB, one the first independents in SAAB in the UK I understand, anyway he charges £125 for any saab service, and £175 for the major servicing. Cheaper than most other indies and definately cheaper than main dealer. He is TECH 2 equipped,a nd also recommended by the service chap at Concept. Call Bagnall SAAB on 0121 440 1555 and ask for RAY. http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Bagnall SAAB is located in Highgate, Birmingham which is close to Moseley, Birmingham. He is open late until 7 most nights and saturdays late also. Give him a bell and mention myself.

Bagnall Saab is Birminghams straight talking no beating around the bush Mechanic, he has been tinkling with Saabs from the the mid 1960s and has always been a Saab Specialist, he is very well priced which is unusual for anything to do with Saab.

BUT MAKE SURE YOU BOOK IT IN PROPERLY AND GET A LEAD TIME FROM HIM AS HE TAKES AGES AND YOU CAN BE LEFT WITHOUT A CAR - AND ODDLY ENOUGH HAS HIS GARAGE FULL ENGINE FAILED SAABS - WHICH IS SCARY......

I think the major service involves a more detailed inspection of the car and also includes air, fuel and pollen filter changes, fuel system additive etc ...

I used this outfit today and concur with the above. A pleasant, eminently knowledgable and very helpful chap with a straightforward approach and giving excellent value.

I agree with the general concensus. They're good, cheap and know what they're talking about. Just one thing - they work to those weird garage times which can have up to 150 minutes to the earth hour, so "half an hour" at two can mean ready at half past four.

I'm sorry to say my experience of them is far from similar to the satisfied posts I have read here.

The solid coolant hoses from the water pump went on my 1999 9-3 started leaking coolant.

I sopke with Frasier and got the parts from the SAAB surgery (Bagnall SAAB breaking sideline) and booked the car in for the friday.

(Was about to type a marathon tale, but thought why bother....)

Sufficed to say I got a quote of time from them to do this as approx 45 minutes .... would charge me an hour and include antifreeze in the cost.
So I was thinking it would take about an hour(ish) @ £45 per hour.
I dropped it off with them Thursday night, as they said they would do it Friday for me, (first come first served... so was expecting this to be me done first.) called them Friday evening.,... got told that water pump also on the way out, and therefore would be first thing tomorrow. Called AM Saturday, no reply.... Called Midday Saturday, to be told the pump had just arrived and that they would call me back in a couple of hours. A couple of hours later, there was no sign of a call, so I called them myself.... got fobbed off "Very Sorry... so busy, blahblahblah!" ...told it would DEFINATELY be ready Sunday first thing, ..... called Sunday AM, told it would GUARANTEED DEFINATELY 100% that afternoon .... called Sunday Afternoon... got fobbed off AGAIN... ..... sufficed to say I got my car fixed on the evening of the Bank holiday Monday.... and cost me about £150 more than they initially quoted me. for doing little more than what I was told was a 45 minute job.

OK, they said my Pump was on its way out also, so that needed doing at the same time .. aditional cost and time etc, but for goodness sakes... If your timekeeping/quoting is that far out of kilter, I am amazed they are still in Business !!!!

I could go on moaning about them as this is the abridged version of my experience........ I would say it was surprising, but in my experience with garages, this is not an unusual occurence !! hence why I normally try and do repairs myself it at all possible !

Ray.... nice chap but no concept of time, or calling people back.
