Looks like I'll be joining this forum! I have managed to find a 99 5dr Turbo lying in a mechanics field and he say's he will sell it to me with an MOT for 300 sheets. I had a good look at it and it has obviously been rebuilt some time ago. Looks well solid and only thing lets it down is faded bumpers so no hardship there really! Apparently it sat in a College for a lot of years as it was used as a project car. Luckily someone got it before I did and (hopefully) sorted out any problems from poor rebuilding. It should come with a spare head and gearbox which is nice! Hope to post it on here soon! I know they are extremely rare in 5dr format and if I get this one, that will be two 5dr 99 turbos in my family (my dad is rebuilding one). Always wanted one since I was a wee boy and cant quite believe I may actually get my hands on one! Hope to post it here soon!

Wow! So rare his family is hogging them! Is it defintiely a genuine 5dr Turbo rather than a transplant? Most excellent if it is!

Still haven't got my hands on it yet although it's supposed to be MOT'd sometime soon. As for whether it is original, yes, complete with Cardinal red paintwork and the funky red interior.

Am I right in thinking that the 5 door was basically a GLE spec car, but manual, instead of the EMS-spec 3 door, so you get leccie mirrors (& possibly front windows??) and no rear spoiler?

99 5dr Turbo has no electric windows but has electric mirrors and front and rear spoilers. Ahhhh - pure retro! :-)

If i remember it has the 'stock' GLE steering wheel and plush seats too...
