The cage round the steering column of my 900i has fractured all round near (about 2cms) the top of the column. The top of this cage provides the top fixing point for the steering column and since it is now completely detached from the lower part of the cage I have a loose steering column - with about 2cm of vertical play. The top of the column is now held in place only bt the outside dashboard trim which is not designed for this purpose! Money is tight so my question is: Can I get the part (if so where from - ?Saab)and fix it myself or is this too difficult for the home mechanic? First looks seem to indicate access to the area might be a bit tricky. Any ideas??
