What is an acceptable compression reading for a T16 engine 1985.

According the the data sheet http://www.saabs.co.uk/tsp/trivia/techspec...900_my91_p2.pdf (http://www.saabs.co.uk/tsp/trivia/techspecs/saab900_my91_p2.pdf) the compression is 9.0:1

No it's not - that's the compression ratio! Saab has never published compression figures for any of its engines. Providing all cylinders read within a few PSI of each other and reach their maximum reading in 2 or 3 spins of the engine, I wouldn't worry about anything
