I have only been a Saab owner for a year now but I have fallen for my 900 16v T saloon, C reg. Sadly, recently a numpty in a Ford pulled out of a junction in front of me, forcing me behind him (Boy I wish I'd hit him now. Saab bumper + Fiesta = another Ford of the road) and into the kerb. He consequently drove off before I could get his number. The out shot of this was a broken wishbone, spider, cup, wheel and cracked gearbox casings as well as slightly crumpled chassis. No doubt I will also have internal gearbox problems. I have been offered a 5dr 8v also A C reg without an intercooler and knackered crown wheel (gearbox).
My question is, does any one know the suitability of using the body, wiring loom etc of the 8v and fitting my 16v engine with my new turbo? I will need also to use the casing from his gearbox as mine is cracked. Alternatively does any one know of a turbo saloon of about that age which has died a death due to engine/gearbox problems? I am happy to travel. Finally, If I do have to replace the gearbox I have been told a Carrlson gearbox of about '92 will fit. Does any one have any views on any of the above? All your comments would be appreciated.
