: Central Locking Failure

After coming out of Tesco's earlier i managed to drop my keys on the floor.
Went to remote unlock the doors (as always), but the locks didn't budge. I could see that the alarm and immmobizer were being turned off and on etc but the locks did nothing at all.

The remote did operate the boot release.
I unlocked the car with the key and drove it home.

Fuse 16 appears to be OK, the 'Lock' rocker switch beside the electric window buttons does nothing either.

I now don't think it is the remote of course (I have tried the spare as well) otherwise the internal lock button would work.

Any idea's as to what to check for first.
As the alarn etc still works it's just a minor inconvenience at the moment. http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Thanks

ISTR I had something like this a year or two ago and the garage fitted a replacement bit within the drivers door, which fixed it. I think it was a meachnical bit rather than electrical.

During the cold wet weather of a few weeks ago the problem resurfaced, (but clear again now, of its own accord) so my guess would be that there's simply a mechanical element in the drivers door that needs cleaning & lubrication.

I don't have central locking so I'm not sure if this is relevant but a chap in the USA has recently posted a procedure for repairing the doorlatch mechanism, including a good description of how to remove the driver's door trim.
--- details here---- (http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9000/index.html?bID=147361)

If it's not relevant to this query, someone else may find it useful

Had a quick look at the schematics for the central locking, and as far as I can see there can only be 2 possible probs.

1.switch on your alarm for activating central locking is not working(would also expect to see wire spliced into green cable going into unit between there and doorlock sw.
2.central locking control unit u/s

Is central locking working through drivers door keylock ?

The central locking is not working through any locks at all.

But i have noticed that when i open a door (any door) there is a slight 'click' sound near the fuses etc. Then when the door is shut i get the sound of a knackered solenoid or similar etc coming from the same place, i believe someone described this sound in another post as being a bit like a drilling sound. It lasts for a few seconds then stops.
It is repeated whenever a door is open and shut again.

The 'lock' button near the window switches does induce the 'click' sound i described but doesn't do anything else.
