I have a 1989 9000i (non ABS) which needs the CV joints replacing. I've never replaced a CV joint before and was wondering if it was the sort of job a relatively inexperienced person could take on with the help of a Haynes manual and are there any pitfalls to avoid. I need a quick response on this so any useful advice would be appreciated by e-mail to graeme@gremlynne.screaming.net

The main problem will be getting the hub nut off and then replacing it (need a large torque wrench). It is a relatively simple job but difficult if the suspension bolts dont undo easily. I would get a local garage to do it but supply then with the new joint from Eurocar parts (or at least check the price the garage would charge for the part). For a garage should be no more than an hours work.
