: Special edition?

Hey everyone.

Just introducing myself as a new fan of SAAB. I picked up my 95 Aero estate in January and have been blown away by the comfort, practicality and performance of this awesome car!

It has 146k on it, so I managed to get it for a bargain (in my opinion) considering it probably cost around the £30k mark when it was new?

It's in an unusual mint green/blue colour with black 5 spoke alloys, and I was wondering whether or not this was once a special edition as I haven't seen one like it anywhere else? The chances are that the wheels were refurbished and painted black, but they definitely give the car a more sporty look.

If anyone knowledgeable could answer my questions, it would be most helpful to know a bit more about the history of my car.

Cheers

Pav

The paint code will be on the passenger door frame, its a three figure number. Get it and do a search for the actual colour, as far as I know they never did special colours but you never know. The wheels do sound like a special paint job.

By the way they are amazing cars aren't they?

Thanks for the advice bart, I shall have a gander and see what I can find out.
Loving my SAAB and am really sad that there doesn't seem to be a future for the marque. What do you drive?

I have two 9-5's, a standard 2.3 estate and a 2.3 Vector saloon that has a stage 2 performance kit on it together with 18in BBS wheels and Bilsten lowering shocks. The saloon is very quick and handles like its on rails788

I like what you've done with the saloon - I can only imagine how quick it is! What horsepower does the performance kit give it?

Its about 260bhp, but the magic with these cars is not only the bhp but the torque, it just pulls like a train, a very fast train.

Welcome to SS,

The wheels most definitely sound like they have been refurbed and painted black.

That is exactly what I have done with mine - http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/dto_garage/users/57547/1038.jpg

They are a lovely car I had one for a couple of weeks while mine was in having the box replaced and what a lovely car, this was a 2.3t 250 Aero Hot and it was like being at the helm of a rocket in an arm chair.

My only negative is the amount of fuel that it was drinking costing me £20+ per day to get to and from work, it's ok the tractor is back now

I know what you mean about the fuel consumption, but I'm lucky enough to be able to walk to work most days - I generally use the SAAB at the weekends and for longer trips. At the moment I put £50 a month in it to tide me over, and I rarely run it down.
I recently bought a facelifted Peugeot 107 which gives 67mpg and only costs about £45 to fill, so I've covered both sides of the motoring coin lol!

Definitely agree with you about the torque, especially when I press the Sport button!

Cheers

I spend £300 a month in my diesel .

I see a pic of yours in the garage section looks awesome with the black wheels and see your quote "Apparently the engines will do many more miles" The one I was referring to as a courtessy car has done 222,600 and that was all good.

Cheers deano, that makes me feel like I'll definitely have a few more years out of him yet...!

I'm thinking of getting the wheels refurbished as the previous owner put some pretty horrendous scrapes down them, which you unfortunately can't hide very well on a set of shiny black alloys! I have to say that it was the overall appearance of the car that drew me towards it in the first place, as I really love its sporty look (normally a strange thing to say about an estate car).

£300 a month on diesel is a lot of money to spend on traveling to work etc, but I guess you have a slightly longer distance to go than me, seeing thatI live on a small island at the moment lol! Not sure how expensive things are going to get when we move to Surrey and have to do a longer commute each day

Definitely worth the refurb I had mine done again a couple of months back

You will be fine using the 107 not the Saab lol unless you have either a very short journey or a very large wallet.
