Consumer Reports magazine in the US have just released their latest reliability survey findings and it’s moderately good news for Saab.

The good: Saab have improved their standing and have a small range between their best and worst rated vehicles.

The bad: there’s still a lot of room to improve. But they’re getting there.

Here’s the table, with thanks to Paul G. Click to enlarge.

Saab came in at position 23, leading brands like Volkswagen, Mercedes, Jeep, Cadillac and Land Rover and they only just trailed behind Audi and BMW. It looks they were just in the lower end of the ‘average’ field.

The horizontal bar represents the gap between the best and worst models in the range. Saab’s relatively small bar means that quality is pretty consistent over all models.

Paul G also tells me that both the Saab 9-5 and the 9-3 2.0T came in as recommended picks from Consumer Reports, so that’s good news as well.

There are a number of issues with CR’s surveys. They’re fairly subjective, for starters, and the data can be fairly old in some instances, too. Despite this, they’re still widely read so improving results for Saab can only mean better things for brand perception.

Thanks again, Paul!
