I am looking into making a water injection system as the prices charged by manufacturers seem completely unreasonable. I know a few people have done this, but does anyone have any idea where to get a pump to build it around in the UK?
Part of the problem with water injection is that you need a really powerful pump in order to atomise the water properly. A standard windscreen washer pump probably won't cut it. A better option would be a bigger intercooler.
It needs to be around 3 bar minimum, high volume is less of an issue due to it being atomised. I was looking for a magnetic piston/diaphragm pump. As usual, they're freely available in america, even on amazon.com for $60, but trying to get one in the UK is a joke
I use a little 25 litre 12 volt battery powered sprayer at work. It is a diaphram pump and when last tested the guy said that it pumped away happily at 50psi for something like 8 hours. It atomises three spray nozzles set to use 25 litres of spray over 500m2. It measures about 6"X3" cylinder. With a smaller nozzle it would give a finer spray.
It is from a Farmura sprayer, but Hardi make them too, among others. If this sounds like a possible candidate let me know and I will see if I can find some literature on it.
If you know any greenkeepers or golf course equipment suppliers who might have an old one lying around.............
It is a very reliable pump but may be very expensive new.
Ah, thanks! I did search first but didn't come up with anything for some reason. Bought the junior one anyway so we shall see how it goes
