Hey all.

I have just bought a 1996 Saab 9000 CD that i am not totally familiar with.

First, the headlights are on a dim setting and i cannot turn them off.

And second, the car did not come with an owners manual and i am curious as to where i could pick one up.

Any replies appreciated. Thanks.

The lights will be the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and at that time the UK used a dim-dip version (not much good in my view). If you want to disable them then you'll have to remove a fuse (look at the fuse-box cover or someone here will tell you the number if you wait a little longer) and they'll be off with the light-switch in the off position. Some forum members (myself included) do like DRLs and on your car (and all other Saabs) simply leave the light-switch in the on position.

As far as a manual is concerned I'm not sure where to look.

Apologies for the lack of a welcome (didn't look at the number of posts - wrists slapped) and also for not looking at your location. It was still early here in the UK and my eyes weren't open properly :envy: zzzzz.

Isn't this forum great though when you can post a question from Oz and get a reply from the UK and Thailand :) .

Welcome to the board Donn :) For an old manual, Ebay may be worth a try.

Daytime Running Lights is a good idea but very irritating at times. I would like to start my car without the headlights coming on for a second as I am turning the key. Especially if the battery is weak. That's why I disabled them on my car. I just drive the car with the headlight switch on the right (low beam) all the time.

Oh, one more thing...i cant seem to figure out how to turn on the cruise control...

Is there a button or switch i should be aware of?

There should be a rocker type switch facing you on the indicator stalk to turn cruise on and off, and a button on the end of the stalk to set it when you're at the desired speed. The only photo I could find was from "that" auction site - here's a link to the image (not the auction).
