Hi

I'm looking hard at a 1970 96 but if I'm going to buy I need to know I can fit rear seat belts. Can anyone tell me if this is a straightforward job (for a mechanic - not me!). Where am I likely to find some period Saab belts - or is it better to go for retractable modern ones?

My previous 1972 96 had attachment points already welded in but my current 1973 one had lost two of them when new panels were added. You may be in luck if you check under the rear seat squab. Mine also has attachment points on the rear panels between the side and rear windscreen.

IIRC all cars since the late 60's have had to have rear seatbelt mounting points, can't remember exactly when, though.

Dead easy to fit, even for a non mechanic....

My '73 96V4 had attachment points. My friendly mechanics found a set of period 'belts for free at an MG swap-meet and they fitted perfectly :)
