We're moving abroad at the beginning of August, so regretfully the 960 has to go - preferably as close to 4 August as possible.
We bought this car in December 2005, because our Espace had been written off and we needed something big, comfy and quick to get up to Edinburgh in for Christmas. We were so impressed with the comfy old bus that, by the time we got back, we'd decided to keep the 960 rather than get another MPV.
The details:
1996(N) 965 CD Luxury Edition 3.0 Automatic, 181,000 miles.
Blackberry Wine Metallic, beige leather with contrasting piping.
I bought the car from the first owner - although for whatever reason the registered keeper was transfered from husband to wife at some point, so I am the third registered keeper. HPI clear when I bought it.
All the expected CD / Lux toys - SC802 radio, electric seats, climate, sunroof and so on. Alas there is no CD player, but I have fitted an iPod adapter from www.usaspec.com - plug your iPod into the lead in the glovebox and it is recognised as a CD changer. I could be persuaded to throw an iPod into the deal - see below.
Seven seats, complete with the correct space-saver spare wheel under the rear-facing seats.
Dog-guard, although I've removed it for safety reasons as we use the rear-facing seats a lot and don't have a dog.
Plastic boot-liner, headlamp protectors. There was a single-electrics towbar on it when I bought it; I unbolted it but still have it in the garage if the purchaser wants it.
Full Volvo service history to 149,993 miles, then maintained by independents (either Carpenters in East Molesey, or Kingston Autos in Norbiton). Last service (including front & rear pads) at 174,620.
Comes with three keys (two master and one service / valet key), two remotes, 'Volvo Plus' wallet and a huge stack of receipts and MoTs, pretty much every piece of paper from the original bill of sale dated 02/05/96. I think there's even a 'Luxury Edition' brochure in the file somewhere.
Detailed history available on request - recent work during my ownership includes head gasket, camshaft oil seals, windscreen, cambelt & water pump (at 164,583), front control arms & ball joints and various other bits.
The rear Nivomat shock absorbers were replaced by the previous owners at 130,878 miles, so have plenty of life left in them. Fronts were done at 138,618.
Tyres are less than 6 months old. Tax to December 2007. MoT runs out on 26 August, although I'm prepared to MoT it again before sale (see below) - it flew through last time.
Bad bits: Whilst the car has had little or no expense spared mechanically, cosmetically it wears its mileage with pride. There are a few scratches here and there, grazes on the corners, and the passenger-side mirror no longer folds after someone took it off and I araldited it back on. It's a fine-looking car from ten yards, or perhaps even five. I'll put some photos up when it's stopped raining and you can make up your own minds.
Price: If someone gives me £1,250 and can wait until the end of July for the car I'll MoT it for a year, and throw in a pair of roof bars, a very large roof-box (stretches from the rear window to just forward of the windscreen) and a 20-gig iPod to keep in the glove-box. Or feel free to make (sensible) offers.
