I’ve decided to sell my Classic 900T16S. It’s the slightly rarer 2 door saloon model. It’s also the FULL TURBO (175bhp). It has the usual toys, electric windows, cruise control, air conditioning, ABS, electric sunroof and a turbo boost gauge. It has also just went straight through an MOT with no work required or advisories.

When I bought the vehicle, I had been actively looking for a 900 Turbo for several months, and chose this one on the basis that it was the best preserved example that I could locate within my price budget. The car had been yearly treated with Waxoyl rust prevention by the last two keen former owners. The turbo boosts correctly, a needles width into the red section of the gauge.

For a large proportion of the cars life, it was owned by a Professor who had it maintained at Beechdale Saab of Nottingham. It was then sold to a “Saab Enthusiast” who kept it for a couple of years and carried out routine maintenance himself. It was then passed to a Jewellery dealer, from whom I purchased the car. He informed me that he carried out engine oil and filter changes every 3000 miles. He couldn’t provide me with the receipts for the car maintenance as he needed to keep them as part of his business expenses.

Since I’ve owned the car I’ve replaced the following items;
Used o/s and n/s driveshafts
Rear brake disks and pads
Front brake disks and pads (came with car)
n/s/r tyre
2 front shock absorbers
Used n/s/f brake calliper
Front outer anti-roll bar bushes
Cruise control switch
PCV valve
Cleaned IACV
Engine oil and filter change

One of the most appealing aspects of this example is that it is entirely original and unmolested. It has never fallen into the hands of the “boy racer” set, and is in exactly the same form as it was when leaving Saab in 1990. The original handbook, and service history book are still with the car and a folder of receipts.
There are stamps for the following mileages; 627, 5625, 11452, 17741, 20707, 37660, 42070, 44000, 53412, 60810, 66800, 74553, 85632, 91671, 99417, 111392, 119722, and receipts for 125364 and 132695. From this point on, servicing was carried out privately by the previous keepers.
The car is MOT’d until the 4th JAN 2008 and taxed until the end MARCH 2007 the beginning of the month. The current mileage on the car is approximately 217k. The body work on the car is in overall good condition for a car of this age, there are a few dents and stratches. There is evidence of previous repairs to the bottoms of the front doors. The structure and floor pans are solid as a previous owner waxoyled the car. The aircon doesn’t work at present, the compressor doesn’t cut in unless the low pressure switch is bridged, indicating the need of a re-gas. There is also the occasional clunk from the exhaust which I think sometimes hits off the underside, I think the mounting rubbers need renewing. There are a couple of stone chips on the front windscreen also.

I have the last three MOT’s and also the fitting certificate for the engine immobiliser that the previous owner had fitted. The CD player is not included in the sale and will be removed.

I’m looking for offers in the region of £650.
