The 2 stroke is now on DVLAs records and i am just waiting for the paperwork any day now!
Over the weekend i had a little drive around the block and when i turned the engine off i could hear a quiet bubbling...it turned out to be the battery. The voltage indicator seemed to indicate that all was well...charging when the car was moving and flicking with the indicators...dropping when lights turned on. I am worried that i may have got some of the wiring to the voltage regulator wrong when i put everything back together. Does anyone have a photo of the regulator in situ with its wiring (1962 96) or does anyone have a colour coded wiring diagram...my manual isnt really clear.
Failing all of the above, does anyone have any ideas why a battery would bubble?

Did you ever do The Electrolosis of Brine at school? Where you put an anode and cathode in some salt water and you can collect hydrogen above one of the electrodes. Maybe someone topped up the battery with Volvic and you're getting some chemical reactions going on...

Thank you but the battery is new and a good brand so i think that may not be the problem. I am having the dynamo tested and will try to get the voltage regulator tested. Failing that i will check the battery.

Turned out to be dirty contacts in the voltage regulator.
The car is now road legal and is running well...just a few carb problems but nothing bad to report.
