Ok peeps, slightly trivial question here, can anyone tell me if a leather gear knob for a GM 900 will fit a 96 cs stick......eh thats it really http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

I took off a leather shift knob of a '94 CS, and wanted to install it on a 95 GM900 a friend of mine used to have. At a first look the knob seemed to fit, but I was in a hurry and we decided to to the job another time.

One week later he was rear ended and totaled his GM 900. Now he has a 9000 Aero http://www.saabscene.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

This saied, I would say that the knob shoud fit. AFAIK there were just two kind of 9000 knobs fittings, pre and post 92 (or 93 ), so the one I had (actully I still have it, taking dust on some shelf in my parent's house in Italy while I'm here in USA) should be the same you're talking about.

Up to '97, they are the same part. The '98 GM900 had a different knob but I don't know what the difference is.

If you're thinking of taking one off a GM900, you might have trouble. It's glued in place and the recommended way to remove it is to cut it off.

On the other hand, this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7905121875&rd=1 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36679&item=7905121875&rd=1) does NOT fit a 9000.

At least when i once tried one it didn't, there's no neat facility to make it work with the lift collar and the hole wasn't big enough for the gear stick shaft either.
